As Vinnie Jones would say "It's been emotional"

I am being officially discharged today :-) The drain will remain in place and will be discussed further when I come to see Mr Scott in clinic on Monday at 11am. I won't fully believe it till it is bedtime tonight and I don't have to come back to the hosp. Keep your fingers x that everything is over for now. Thank you for all your love and support over these long weeks xxx

Still no definitive decision, Mr Scott's co-consultant has been in theatre for most of the day and has yet to give his directive, that will be either later tonight or early in the morning. He is deciding if the drain can come out. Blood results are normal. The Dr's are worried that if they take the drain out my temp might, only might go up. Will let you know when I know. Disappointed that I am still hanging, xxx

Hi, not been told anything yet, decision could go either way, home or stay longer

Had one lot of tablet a/b, it is the size of a horse pill, and I will take one 3 times a day. Eaten two reasonable meals and had a walk round the inside of hosp for exercise and something to pass time. Sorted out more financial matters 2day, with more 2mrw, then will set up s/o when get home. Another consultant surgeon came to see me and said I looked good and made positive sounds about going home later in week after a couple of days on tablets, so looks promising. Temp's remain good and I never had any pain. Sleep can be tricky,'cos your body needs less and you wake up so early. Thank god for my ipod. Hope to see u soon, pref away from hosp, take care x

News Flash!! No bloods to be taken till Thursday, counts best ever. Thursday is going to be the big decision day, whether drain comes out and if bloods bob on then every possibility of home by the weekend. Mustn't get too discharge happy, just in case. B-)

What with the howling wind, torrential rain outside and the coughing, belching, puking, snoring, fa**ing from my fellow bay members I am surprised I got any sleep, or in Paul Daniels speak "not a lot". You could get ill in here! Hopefully another day closer to escape. I have had a full 24 hrs of tablet antibiotics and temps remain normal, just the daily visit from the blood vampires, don't they have enough yet! Still smiling, almost sane xx :-D

Enjoyed a wonderful shower, feel really clean. Dr's extremely pleased with temp's and zero reaction to w/e. Had last iv this morning, hope to go onto tablet a/biotics from 2day. Too early to say, but good signs of discharge soon. Blood results are almost normal again. Bye for now x:-)

The pondering is over, decision has been made, and a sausage barm has been purchased and consumed. Tasty, but I will to have a full breakfast when I am out and back in Lytham. I am txting from the canteen, looking out at the blue sky. I am the only patient all the rest are staff, no probs for me. With a full tum, xx B-)

A very enjoyable day ystday, slept till 3am then hosp decided to put heating on, fellow patients v noisy, so wide awake till 6am, thank goodness for ipod. It was very tempting to get into bed at home rather than having to come back to hosp. Nice sunny morning, but the bed was stripped at 7.10, breakfast at 7.30, so much for a Sunday layin. Temp 36.7 so still on track. Have a happy day, mine will be a restful one. Contemplating whether to walk to the canteen for a bacon or sausage barm, decisions, decisions xxx :-)

The following morning...it was cold, crisp and clear, with a watery red sun breaking over the gas works. Meanwhile , Clarkie on ward 12 was coming to terms with the newly inserted drain that he knew would become his saviour, but why did it feel like a telegraph pole had been placed in his butt. All it needed now was for the BT engineer to increase his broadband speed and all the discomfort would be worth it. The new contraption was keeping his temp's in the 36's and extremely low 37's. But was it too early to tell...

Seems that I have got my usual last of the day slot. Anaethetist has just been and said shouldn't be long now. So I have missed every meal today and that will include my supper of liver and onions that I really fancied. Why am I always last, Mr Fed Up

Still waiting to go down, it has been a long wait. Staff still think I am going today but it may be rescheduled till 2mrw. Sadly, I would suggest you don't come. It is a long way to come if I am not in a viewable state. That's the current known position, signed bored, frustrated and parched Al

My day is certainly different. My urine from the catheter has turned red and a sample has been sent for analysis. It is wierd to see it that colour. A jr doctor has tried to put a canula in my hand, botched it, and my hand is swollen and painful. Mr Scott came to speak to Deb and I. I will be nil by mouth from 6am 2mrw then I will have a general anaesthetic for Mr Scott to insert a drain tube into what remains of my bottom to allow the infection and pus that has collected above it and can't get out. He is very confident that this will be the breakthrough to get rid of the pus and hammer the temp's out of the park. News maybe late 2mrw and visits carefully reviewed b4 setting out. :-(

Normal service has been resumed. The author has been kicked out of his strop and has recovered from his drunken stupour. The rest of the news is the same as always. But their are a few differences that will keep our regular readers captivated. Exceptionally good sleep overnight considering the 39.6 and 38.8 rollercoaster of ystday afternoon and late evening. Breakfast was both tasty and a truimph. I ate the remainder of Deb's homemade sausage/egg breakfast on a butty, sublime, all the scene needed was some freshly squeezed Spanish orange juice. Quiet morning was enlivened by the lunchtime Beef Stew, piquant and heady with the scent of cooked quality beef and earthy vegetables. It tasted good but the author could only manage half as he gets full very quickly. Space was found for the taste tantilising apricot jelly, but the cream topping was disposed of sharpish, as the norm for me. A good 2 hrs snooze fest till now, temp of 38 straddling start and finish. Roast Beef dinner for supper.
